Let’s have a thread on food that we find nostalgic, what is the food and why does it bring up certain memories?
One of my favourite things is properly crusty french bread with slabs of salted European style butter …it was my go to breakfast whenever we went on holiday and it was always a treat at home. So basic but not a lot better than the right kind of bread and butter in my humble 
Currently really craving my grandma’s fruitcake - not traditional heavy rich cake like you get at Christmas or weddings. But a super light raisin cake, it’s a bit more like Irish soda bread I guess but cakier texture. My grandma cooks and bakes a lot of amazing dishes, I’ve been so lucky but there isn’t much more comforting on a cold grey wet English day than her fruitcake straight out of the oven with a steaming cuppa tea
