Let’s share fun stories about meeting or getting close to meeting our heroes. If you’ve joined this coven you probably know that the band U2 and Bono are my all time favourites. I was fortunate enough to meet Adam Clayton and The Edge back in the day but Bono has always remained faraway, so close.
I think this pic sums it up best ! The most incredible evening at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NYC . We were spending one night in Manhattan and thought we’d go to the theatre to try and meet Bono before he went into this Clinton Global Initiative event. They had spare tickets and got a bunch of us in ! We sat a few rows behind Bono and The Edge and Clinton himself, my friend sat next to Harry Belafonte. Shakira, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keyes and so many others were there.
Bono turned around at one point and recognised the fans sitting behind us, and that’s when he ran up and threw himself on their laps. As you can tell from this paparazzi shot, I can barely contain myself but managed to not touch his face or anything else that would’ve been cringey. This was 17 years ago now, soooo crazy how the time goes.
I love this pic where you are just staring at the B Man with heart eyes <3
Well I met Edge outside the recording studio (B had just left, after someone insisted we stop for a burger grrrr)
And of course fleeting glimpses in a certain Irish pub!
Also clubbing with Guy Garvey and Elbow. Spent an hour or two chatting whilst slightly (very) drunk.
Omg mads I forgot you hung out with Guy and Elbow for that long?!! I thought it was shorter than that. So cool ! Didn’t you get a lovely smooch on the cheek too?
I got to meet my shanty boys the other week - and it’s not like I’m obviously swooning in these pics or anything. JD the one in glasses is my big music crush of the moment, his bass voice and guitar skills, swoon. In the screenshot from the vid that John took, I like to think he’s swooning over me however
Ahh love it! Your swooning is soooo not obvious lol
They look like cool guys
We went to a Heritage Live festival a few weeks ago and saw Manics, Charlatans and…Ash! Ash are another of my big Irish loves. Second row from rail, I like to think Tim smiled at me swoon
